(ANSA) - BELGRADE, FEB 26 - The Belarusian lower house
elections have concluded. Tass reported a turnout of 73.
Igor Karpenko, chairman of the Central Election Commission,
announced the winning candidates in all 110 districts during a
press conference and stated that all 1,284 local councils had
been formed based on preliminary results. Belarus opened nearly
5,500 polling stations for the country's first-ever unified
election day. In total, 263 candidates ran for the House of
Representatives (lower house of parliament) and 18,802 for local
councils. (ANSA).
