(ANSA) - BELGRADE, MAR 12 - According to IOM data, 5,359
migrants and refugees were registered upon arrival in Western
Balkan countries in January 2024. This represents a 46% decrease
compared to December 2023. The majority of registrations were
completed in Bosnia-Herzegovina (2,507, 40%) and Serbia (2,004,
-61%). In January, slightly more than 3,100 migrants were hosted
in Bosnia's official reception facilities, which have a total
capacity of around 5,000, and approximately 1,200 in Serbia,
where the capacity is nearly 6,000. The term "registrations on
arrival" refers to any official authority intercepting and
registering an irregular entry at the border, by sea, in
airports, or on the territory. (ANSA).
