(ANSA) - TRIESTE, MAY 22 - Slovenia has also decided to
extend border checks with Croatia and Hungary for six months,
following Italy's announcement of the same measure along the
Slovenian-Italian border, according to Slovenian news agency
STA. Slovenia's Interior Minister, Bostjan Poklukar, announced
the decision today, stating that the checks would continue to
help fight crime while having as little impact on locals as
possible.
Border controls will remain in place until December 21.
Croatia, Hungary, and the European Commission have already been
notified of the border check extensions. (ANSA).
