(ANSA) - UDINE, 29 MAG - Igudesman & Joo, Jeton Neziraj,
Giuseppe Battiston, Alessio Boni, Aleksandra Vrebalov, Josef
Nadj, Moni Ovadia, Teatrino Giullare, and Margherita Vicario
will be among the protagonists of the 2024 edition of
Mittelfest, the Mitteleuropa international festival of prose,
music, dance, and circus, scheduled in Cividale del Friuli
(Udine) July 19-28. The festival will feature 29 artistic
projects from 17 countries, including 15 world premieres.
The 33rd edition, on the theme "Disorders," presented in
Udine by artistic director Giacomo Pedini, will be preceded by
Mittelyoung (July 16-18), a unique event in Europe. The curators
chose nine shows created by artists under 30 from 250 proposals
from different countries.
"Unrest," explained artistic director Pedini, "can be a
source of fear, but also of great exaltation, depending on the
relationship we decide to have with chaos. This Mittelfest is
also very articulated, includes touring shows, presents
international co-productions, and enlivenes the places of the
city of Cividale. This festival weaves different styles and
genres, with special attention to families, who form the
audience of tomorrow, and to the art of circus."
Among the shows co-produced by Mittelfest this year is
"Negotiating Peace," a satirical comedy about peace processes
written by Jeton Neziraj and produced in collaboration with
theaters in 9 countries, from Kosovo to Germany and Norway and
the Czech Republic. The program includes tributes to Friulian
poet Pierluigi Cappello and Franz Kafka in the centennial year.
Alessio Boni and Valter Sivilotti will rekindle a jazz vein of
post-war Gorizia, while Josef Nadj will put blues and spiritual
atmospheres into dance with eight African dancers. Moni Ovadia
will return to Mittelfest for the first time since his
direction, held from 2003 to 2008, while Serbian composer
Aleksandra Vrebalov will unite words of the sacred with music.
Fabio Cifariello Ciardi and Valentina Petrini will combine music
and journalistic inquiry, and singer-songwriter and actress
Margherita Vicario will close the festival along with the
Corelli Orchestra. (ANSA).
