(ANSA) - BELGRADE, SEP 11 - The presentation ceremony for the
Czech Republic of the 'Day of Italian Sport in the World,' the
initiative promoted by the Farnesina in collaboration with the
Ministry of Health and CONI (Italian National Olympic Commitee),
will be held today at the Italian Embassy in Prague. The
initiative aims at enhancing Italian excellence through sports,
and promoting the major events to be held in Italy, such as the
Winter Olympics and Paralympics in Milan-Cortina.
Italian Ambassador Mauro Marsili will open the events in
Prague. The opening ceremony will be followed by speeches by
tennis champion Andrea Sestini Hlaváčková, winner and finalist
of several Grand Slam tournaments in doubles, Fabrizio Sestini,
prominent tennis player and director of WTA Finals Operations,
and renowned soccer player Tomas Skuhravy.
As part of the initiative, until the end of September it will
be possible to visit on the premises of the Italian Cultural
Institute in Prague the photographic exhibition 'Beyond Limits.
Choral portrait of a changing country'. The celebrations will
continue on September 21 and 22 in Brno, with the coach of the
Czech national beach volleyball team and current world champion
Andrea Tomatis. The famous Italian sportsman will hold a
training camp for promising young volleyball players. A soccer
match between Czech and Italian fans is also scheduled for
Sunday, September 22. (ANSA).
