(ANSA) - VILNIUS, JAN 2 - Latvia assumed the rotating
presidency of the Baltic Council of Ministers (BCM) on
Wednesday.
According to the Riga Foreign Ministry, during its presidency
Latvia will prioritize the implementation of cooperation among
the Baltic states in the areas of security, defense of strategic
infrastructure and regional resilience, as well as further
strengthening Baltic energy security and military support to
Ukraine.
Special attention will also be paid to the implementation of
common civil defense tools and the coordination of crisis
management cooperation.
The BCM is a cooperation format between the governments of
Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania, whose chairmanship is assumed
annually by one of the three countries. (ANSA).
