(ANSA) - TRIESTE, 25 SET - A series of meetings and events
focused on the sea will start on October 8 in Trieste. The
Barcolana Sea Summit—Positive Energy is an upcoming event
dedicated to the sea.
This event will precede the 56th Barcolana, scheduled for
Sunday, October 13, in the Gulf of Trieste.
Today, the schedule of events was announced. From October 8
to 11, the city will host roundtables, exhibitions, seminars, a
unique program for schools, and various events at the Generali
Convention Center and other locations. These events will address
strategies for territorial sustainability, safety at sea and in
the workplace, the digital transformation of energy, innovation,
climate change, and related topics such as the underwater
economy, wind energy, and offshore wind power. Italy's
Environment Minister, Gilberto Pichetto, is expected to attend
via video link on October 11.
The Barcola and Grignano Sailing Society, AEIT FVG, and the
FVG Region are promoting the summit. It will also feature the
social science outreach project "Geopop," which has 10 million
followers, to explore new ways of engaging the public with
science. Mitja Gialuz, president of SVBG, emphasized that the
fourth edition of the Barcolana Sea Summit brings many new
developments, including a widespread program across the region,
new partnerships, a close connection with the business world and
institutions, a science outreach event, and the institutional
presence of the Region and the government. The summit aims to
remain open to everyone, in true Barcolana style, keeping "our
sea at the center of attention."
Fabio Scoccimarro, the Regional Councillor for Environmental
Defense, underlined the region's support for Barcolana's
initiatives and its commitment to environmental sustainability.
He mentioned the promotion of the General States of the Upper
Adriatic Environment. He highlighted that this year, all the
countries of the region—Italy, Slovenia, Croatia, and
Austria—will gather in Venice to share policies concerning the
environment and the sea. (ANSA).
