(ANSA) - BELGRADE, JUN 19 - Total volumes in the port of
Trieste have remained stable in the first five months of the
year, despite the fact that the performance of the Italian port
and many Mediterranean ports is influenced by the current
geopolitical framework: there were only 727 ships containers
that crossed the Suez Canal between January and May (-69),
compared to 676 that extended the route by rounding the Cape of
Good Hope. Despite the economic crisis, the port's overall
volumes increased by +5.56%, with 24 million tonnes of goods
handled compared to the January-May period last year. (ANSA).
