KFOR ramps up training activities in Kosovo

Due to persistent instability and interethnic tensions

(ANSA) - PRISTINA, 16 LUG - Recently, the NATO force in Kosovo, KFOR, has ramped up its training activities to evaluate its readiness to handle potential critical situations.
This decision is a response to the ongoing instability and interethnic tensions between Serbian and Albanian communities.
There has been an increase in incidents and provocations, with mutual accusations that are not helping improve relations between Belgrade and Pristina, nor are they beneficial to the EU-facilitated dialogue between the parties. KFOR has released images of the training exercises involving soldiers from Latvia, Norway, the UK, Denmark, Finland, and Poland at the NATO mission's Regional Command East. A statement from KFOR mentioned that the operation involved American soldiers at the Novosella base.
The exercises evaluated the soldiers' physical strength, unit knowledge, and cavalry scouting abilities. Due to tensions in predominantly Serbian northern Kosovo, NATO has increased the number of KFOR personnel over the past year, which currently stands at 4,700 troops, including the reserve force.
