Metsola, 'enlargement is a real prospect, EU ready to grow'

(ANSA) - BELGRADE, DEC 18 - "Enlargement is a real prospect and the European Union is ready to grow. For us, enlargement is the European Union's most powerful geopolitical instrument. And the bigger the Union, the stronger it is," said the President of the European Parliament, Roberta Metsola, arriving at the EU-Western Balkans summit. "If we don't step forward, others will intervene. If we think about the last decades, more members have left the European Union than have joined. And I believe we must reverse this trend," she added.
