(ANSA) - VATICAN CITY, 16 MAG - Pope Francis received Edgars
Rinkevics, President of the Republic of Latvia, accompanied by
his entourage, in an audience at the Vatican this morning. The
private conversation between the two lasted 35 minutes.
In the end, after the Latvian delegation was presented, gifts
were exchanged. The Pontiff donated a bronze bas-relief entitled
"The Welcome," volumes of papal documents, and the Message for
World Peace Day 2024.
Rinkevics, on the other hand, offered the Pope a silver
plaquette based on the photograph "Riga Panorama" by
photographer Ilmars Znotins of the Latvian President's
Chancellery. The picture features the Riga skyline and its
reflection, the coat of arms of the Republic of Latvia, and the
President's inscription.
After the Pope's audience, the President and his entourage
attended talks at the Secretariat of State. (ANSA).
