(ANSA) - BELGRADE, MAY 30 - Italian-Slovenian territorial and cross-border cooperation is a model to be replicated in other countries of Central and Eastern Europe and the Balkans, particularly those in the process of joining the EU. This prospect was the focus of "Territorial Cooperation, Multilevel Partnerships and EU Integration: Lessons Learned at the Border Between Italy and Slovenia," a two-day initiative held in Trieste and Gorizia on May 28 and 29, which was attended by a delegation consisting of young administrators, members of local or regional elective assemblies and those responsible for economic development and European planning, from Central European Initiative (CEI) countries such as Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Moldova, North Macedonia, Serbia and Ukraine. The key themes were historical reconciliation, governance, legal aspects, and collaboration in the "Nova Gorica and Gorica European Capital of Culture 2025 framework." "Within the 'Local Dimension of CEI,' we intend to work together with institutional and other stakeholders involved in local development to promote the untapped potential of local areas," CEI Secretary General Roberto Antonione said.
