(ANSA) - BELGRADE, AUG 16 - Bljerim Ramadani, a former Kosovo
Liberation Army (KLA) militant, has escaped from house arrest in
North Macedonia. On July 17, he was apprehended in the Balkan
country pursuant to an arrest warrant issued by Serbia through
Interpol.
Belgrade had hoped for the quick extradition of the former
Kosovar guerrilla, who was a member of the KLA's operational
formation responsible for the persecution of hundreds of Serbs
from various locations in Kosovo during the 1998-1999 armed
conflict, as well as the burning and destruction of Serb and
Orthodox churches, and the kidnapping and murder of dozens.
