(ANSA) - BELGRADE, SEP 26 - Albania is moving closer to
joining the European Union. The 27 Ambassadors approved a letter
yesterday in which the Hungarian rotating presidency
communicated to Albanian authorities the EU Council's positive
assessment of the achievement of the requirements for opening
the fundamentals cluster, according to diplomatic sources.
Albania and the EU must now define their respective negotiating
positions in preparation for the Intergovernmental Conference,
which will be held in the coming weeks. However, no progress has
been made on the North Macedonia dossier, which has been
proceeding in parallel with Albania's. (ANSA).
