Poland flying fighter jets for Russian raids on Ukraine

(ANSA) - TRIESTE, NOV 17 - Poland said it scrambled fighter jets and mobilized all available forces Sunday in response to a "massive" Russian missile and drone attack on Ukraine. "Due to a massive attack by Russia, which is carrying out attacks with cruise missiles, ballistic missiles and drones against sites located, among other places, in western Ukraine, operations by Polish and allied aircraft have begun," the Polish Operations Command announced on the social media platform X. Kiev Mayor Vitali Klitchko reported one casualty when a drone fragment fell on an apartment building in the capital. Local authorities and Ukrainian media reported numerous explosions across the country, particularly in the south in Zaporizhzhia, Odessa, Mykolaiv, and Chernihiv.
