Drought causes nearly 2 billion in damage in Romania

Wheat, corn, rapeseed, and sunflower particularly hit

(ANSA) - BELGRADE, AUG 21 - This year's drought had a significant impact on crops on 2.5 million hectares in Romania, accounting for roughly 40% of wheat, maize, rapeseed and sunflower cultivation areas, according to local media. The total losses, calculated as revenues not realised by farmers, are expected to range between EUR 1.5 billion and 1.8 billion.
