Serbia's government vows 75-day mandatory military service

Women will do it voluntarily

(ANSA) - BELGRADE, 21 SET - The Serbian government gave yesterday the green light to reinstate compulsory military service, which was abolished in early 2011. In a statement issued at the end of an extraordinary session also attended by President Aleksandar Vucic, the executive led by Prime Minister Milos Vucevic reported the creation of a working group tasked with examining all measures necessary to ensure the return to compulsory conscription, the duration of which will be 75 days.
    For men, the draft will be mandatory, while for women, military service, with the same rules and duration, will be voluntary. (ANSA).
