(ANSA) - UDINE, 13 AGO - On the A4 highway heading towards
Venice, heavy traffic is anticipated on Saturday, as it is
expected to be the first significant day of return traffic from
vacation. Traffic is expected to be particularly heavy on the
A57 Mestre Bypass heading towards Trieste, especially in the
afternoon.
The last departures before Ferragosto are anticipated to
mainly consist of "sea commuters," with a mix of return traffic
and holiday-goers heading to the seaside, with intermittent
traffic jams expected at the Trieste/Lisert toll barrier and on
the two-lane stretch between Portogruaro and San Donà.
Heavy traffic on the A4 from Trieste to Venice is also
expected on Saturday, with approximately 27,000 cars anticipated
to enter the Lisert toll barrier, returning from Slovenia,
Croatia, and Eastern Europe, and 14,000 cars entering the A34
Villesse toll barrier.
If traffic jams become excessive, a cross-border protocol
could be activated, with Dars (Slovenian highways) in agreement
with Autostrade Alto Adriatico, directing traffic via variable
message signs along the alternative route through Gorizia.
Sunday, heavy traffic on the A4 from Trieste to Venice will also
be heavy, with an estimated 170,000 vehicles expected. This day
has been marked as a "red sticker" day, indicating high traffic
volume. (ANSA).
