Slovenian case risks delaying the new Commission

Vote on new candidate expected tomorrow, discontent is growing

(ANSA) - BELGRADE, SEP 12 - Ursula von der Leyen's presentation of the new Commission may be delayed further due to a Slovenian issue. Tomorrow, the local parliamentary commission in Ljubljana is expected to vote on Marta Kos, the new Commission candidate chosen by Prime Minister Robert Golob following Tomaz Vesel's withdrawal. The commission, however, is chaired by former Prime Minister Janez Jansa's party (Sds), which is affiliated with the People's Party but has long held Eurosceptic and certainly anti-von der Leyen positions. And the party could refuse to schedule the parliamentary commission vote, further delaying the candidates' formal completion.
