Slovenia's PM rejects allegations of police interference

Hearing before the Corruption Prevention Commission

Redazione Ansa

(ANSA) - BELGRADE, DEC 4 - Slovenian Prime Minister Robert Golob denied allegations of meddling in the police made against him by former Interior Minister Tatjana Bobnar at a hearing before the Corruption Prevention Commission on Wednesday, according to Slovenian news agency STA. While Golob stated that witnesses and evidence would back him up, Bobnar stood by her claims and emphasised the watchdog's independence. Golob, who clashed with Bobnar in late 2022 over her apparent reluctance to make more sweeping cuts to police appointments made by the previous government, told the press after the hearing that he "gave the commission all the explanations they required and rejected and refuted all accusations."
