As we aim to achieve climate-neutrality by 2050, we need to make sure this happens in a fair and inclusive way, with growth and jobs for all," said today Maros Sefcovic, the new Executive Vice-President of the European Commission taking over the responsibilities of Frans Timmermans, also related to the European 'Green Deal'. Timmermans coordinated the European Commission's legislative agenda to make Europe the first climate neutral continent by 2050 and represented the EU in international negotiations on climate change.
