10% cuts in spending across all ministries

(ANSA) - VILNIUS, 10 AGO - The Estonian government is considering a plan to reduce spending by 10% across all ministries. Prime Minister Kristen Michal stated this during an interview on Estonian television. Michal emphasized that only certain key ministries, such as Defense and the Interior, and specific departments dependent on the country's economic growth, will be exempt from the cuts.
She mentioned that the government will announce next year's budget plan details on August 27, highlighting that it will entail "a program of real austerity." The spending cuts and tax increases are deemed necessary due to the deteriorating economic situation and increased defense spending. (ANSA).
