(ANSA) - TRIESTE, 12 NOV - The aim is to share integrated care pathways to improve treatments and emphasize the prevention of prevalent diseases. With these objectives in mind, the Executive Secretariat of the Central European Initiative (CEI) is hosting a workshop in Trieste today, running through November 14, on strengthening primary healthcare models for managing complex chronic diseases in the Western Balkans. This event is promoted by the World Health Organization (WHO) and CEI.
The Secretary-General of the Central European Initiative, Roberto Antonione, highlighted that the meeting "represents an important opportunity to address key issues related to the well-being and health of citizens, and also serves as a chance to share best practices in healthcare." Gian Matteo Apuzzo from the WHO European Centre for Primary Health Care explained that "the meeting has two goals. The first is technical: sharing integrated care pathways among the Western Balkan countries for chronic diseases, specifically focusing on diabetes, hypertension, and related conditions such as cardiovascular diseases. The second goal is to focus on prevention, one of the main themes of this workshop, which also means strengthening services to promote healthy lifestyles." (ANSA).
