Union of Istrians celebrates its 70th anniversary

(ANSA) - BELGRADE, NOV 30 - "Today we remember those who helped make these lands Italian, we remember the dead soldiers, those who, in various capacities, had to suffer the martyrdom of the foibe to maintain Italianness," Massimiliano Lacota, president of the Union of Istrians, said today in Trieste, addressing hundreds of people who had gathered to celebrate the Union's 70th anniversary. "We remember those who supported and fought for the right to memory during the dark years, when these things were not discussed," he said. (ANSA).
