(ANSA) - TRIESTE, 19 AGO - Heavy traffic with queues of
several kilometers especially on the Trieste-Venice section in
both directions. It is the Saturday of simultaneous exodus and
counter-exodus on the Upper Adriatic Highway network, with new
tourists traveling to tourist destinations (Lower Friuli and,
across the border, Croatia) and vacationers who left in the past
weeks returning to various regions of Italy, Austria and Germany
especially.
But at the same Lisert barrier there is also a two-kilometer
queue entering Trieste: these are precisely tourists going on
vacation. In general, on the Autostrada AA network compared to
the same Saturday last year, there is a 4 percent increase in
transit vehicles, including 3 at Lisert. Also on the
Trieste-Venice section, there are queues at times in the area of
San Giorgio di Nogaro and San Stino with average transits of
2,500/2,700 vehicles per hour.
Queues formed in Latisana both inbound - they are those going
to the beach - and outbound - they are tourists returning home.
It is presumable that at the end of the day the number of 190
thousand vehicles transited will be reached. About two weeks ago
on exodus days there was an increase in transits of 5 percent;
the same increase is being recorded in these hours but in the
opposite direction, for the return precisely. Thanks to the
entry into operation of the new section of the third lane, on
the A23 Palmanova-Tarvisio, which connects Udine with Austria,
there are no traffic jams, despite the 2,300 transits per hour.
