(ANSA) - TRIESTE, 02 MAR - The Fvg Region will host the
mayors of 17 municipalities straddling Italy and Slovenia for
the signing of the document of intent that will lead to the
establishment of the Kras-Carso Gect, in the presence of the
institutions, with two ministers from the Republic of Slovenia."
This was announced by Regional Councillor for Local
Self-Government Pierpaolo Roberti. "The signing," Roberti
reported, "will take place on March 11 at 10 a.m. in the
Regional Palace. The establishment of a European Group for
Territorial Cooperation (Gect) "Kras Kras" was the main goal of
the Kras-Carso II project - "Joint Management and Sustainable
Development of the Classic Karst Area," approved by the
Monitoring Committee of the Interreg Italy-Slovenia Program in
April 2023. "The Group," the councillor noted, "will be called
upon to cooperate in total agreement with local authorities in
order to contribute to the sustainable development of the
cross-border area of the Classic Karst, supporting the slow
tourism industry and enhancing the experience gained in previous
Interreg projects." These municipalities: Divaca,
Hrpelje-Kozina, Komen. Miren-Kostanjevica, Sezana, Trieste,
Muggia, Duino Aurisina, San Dorligo della Valle, Monrupino,
Sgonico, Ronchi dei Legionari, Sagrado, Savogna d'Isonzo,
Fogliano-Redipuglia, Monfalcone and Doberdò del Lago. Ministers
of the Republic of Slovenia Matej Arcon, for Slovenes Abroad,
and Aleksander Jevsek, for Cohesion, are expected to attend the
