(ANSA) - LONDRA, 26 LUG - Recent suspicions raised by French
investigative circles suggest a possible ultra-environmentalist
link behind the railway sabotage that occurred on the opening
day of the Paris Olympics. These suspicions come just days after
the radical group Just Stop Oil announced "the beginning of a
global revolt" against transportation and pollution.
The slogan was featured in a video released in the United
Kingdom following an attempted raid (which resulted in nine
arrests) at London's Heathrow Airport, the European leader in
air traffic. Simultaneously, German activists carried out a
similar action at Cologne-Bonn Airport, attributed in the same
video to the sister organization Last Generation. The
announcement was followed by a successful raid on Frankfurt
Airport in Germany, which was shut down for a few hours
yesterday, as well as actions in the USA and Canada targeting
road and air traffic.
Just Stop Oil is a campaign advocating for a total ban on
hydrocarbons, while Last Generation protests against all forms
of pollution, citing them as contributing factors to climate
change. Both groups advocate civil disobedience, viewing it as
necessary to raise global awareness and hold governments and
businesses accountable for the "climate emergency" and the
associated risks to the planet. (ANSA).
