(ANSA) - ROMA, 18 LUG - Bangladeshi archer Sagor Islam
attends a training session in Tongi, on the outskirts of Dhaka,
Bangladesh, 13 July 2024 (issued 17 July 2024). Sagor Islam, 18,
who did not hear the word 'Olympics' until he became a teenager,
became Bangladesh's second archer to qualify directly for the
Olympic Games after moving into semifinals of the men's
individual recurve event in the Archery World Cup Stage-3 in
Turkey. Bangladesh, the most populous country to never win an
Olympic medal, will send five athletes to Paris but, apart from
Sagor, the two swimmers, a shooter and a sprinter will go owing
to wildcards handed out by their respective international
federations. The 2024 Summer Olympics will be held in Paris from
26 July to 11 August 2024 and the Paralympic Games from 28
August to 08 September 2024. (ANSA).
