(ANSA) - ROMA, 13 AGO - Indian fishermen work at a fish breeding center at Chakdah village in Kolkata, India, 13 August 2024. The Indian state of West Bengal has 37 percent of pond resources of which 70 percent are utilized for fish breeding, producing between one and three million tonnes of freshwater fin-fish per year. 'West Bengal is the largest fish producing state and accounts for about 20 percent of the total fish production of over ten million tons in India', according to a study published by the Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India.
