(ANSA) - ROMA, 14 MAG - Syrian refugees sit inside a truck

Bekaa Valley, Lebanon, 14 May 2024. Lebanese state media said on
14 May, that some 330 Syrians in Lebanon began their 'voluntary'
repatriation from different areas of Lebanon. The repatriation
is being organization by Lebanon's General Directorate of the
General Security. The most recent data from the UN Refugee
Agency (UNHCR) indicates that there are approximately 1.5
million Syrian refugees have lived in Lebanon since the outbreak
of the Syrian civil war more than ten years ago. Over the past
five years, Lebanon, a country of around five million people,
has experienced the worst economic catastrophe in its history
(ANSA).
