Romanian Ministry of Agriculture requested on 07 August
compensation from the European Commission for farmers affected
by the drought. There are approximately two million cultivated
hectares that are severely affected by the drought, especially
sunflowers and corn, with losses estimated at 200-230 euros per
hectare, according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural
Development (MADR). The Romanian National Meteorological
Administration on 13 August issued an Excessive Heat Warning
(Orange Code), announcing that maximum temperatures will reach
