Three people including two women were
arrested Friday on suspicion of the brutal murder of an elderly
retired carpenter in his home near Lecce last June.
Donato Montinaro, 75, was found dead with his hands and feet
tied to a table, hooded and with wounds to his face on June 11.
One of the women knew the victim had cash in his home and
planned the homicide, a court found.
An autopsy found that Montinaro died due to asphyxiation caused
by being gagged, hooded and strangled with clothing, sheets and
adhesive tape.
The murder took place at Castri di Lecce.
Montinari was tied to the table and forced to tell his murderers
where his money was, the court found.
