A suspect has been arrested by Carabinieri police in relation to the shooting in which a 19-year-old woman was killed late on Saturday at a beach club at Molfetta, near Bari.
It is suspected that the violence erupted after a row between rival members of local mob clans and anti-mafia investigators have taken the case.
The dead woman, Antonia Lopez, was the niece of Ivan Lopez, who was killed in a hit in Bari in September 2021.
Eugenio Palermiti, a 20-year-old aspiring to be a boss in the Palermiti clan, was among four people injured in Saturday's shooting, sources said.
The suspect, 21-year-old Michele Lavopa, has confessed to firing the shots that killed the woman and said he threw the gun in the sea after, sources said on Monday.
Lavopa was already known to local law enforcement.
