Pope Francis will visit Corsica on
Sunday, December 15, the Holy See Press Office said on Saturday.
The Argentine pontiff will close an international conference on
popular religious traditions organized by the Diocese of
Ajaccio, it said.
It will be Francis's 47th Apostolic Journey abroad and the
first-ever visit of a pope to the French Mediterranean island.
It will also be his third visit in French territory after the
visits to the European Parliament and the Council of Europe in
Strasbourg in 2014 and to Marseille for the Mediterranean
Encounters in 2023.
