The Franciscan Holy Land College of
Aleppo on Sunday was hit in a Russian air raid that caused
significant damage, Deputy Premier and Foreign Minister Antonio
Tajani wrote on X.
"The Franciscan Holy Land College in Aleppo was struck by a
Russian raid that caused significant damage", wrote Tajani.
"I urge all sides in conflict in Syria to safeguard the civilian
population.
"We continue to assure all possible assistance to Italians in
Syria", said the foreign minister.
Nobody was injured in the raid and Franciscan friars in Aleppo
"are all fine", sources close to the clerics told ANSA after the
raid.
The institute is located inside the compound of Aleppo's
convent, near the church where a mass was scheduled to be held
later in the day to mark the first Sunday of Advent.
