Italy's antitrust authority on
Thursday launched a probe into potato crisp companies Amica
Chips and Pata on suspicion of their sealing an anti-competitive
deal.
The Competition and Market Authority, thanks to the report of a
whistleblower, launched the investigation into Amica Chips and
Pata for an alleged restrictive agreement on competition
relating to the production and marketing of private label crisps
produced on behalf of large-scale retail chains.
According to the Authority, the two companies coordinated to
divide up customers between them, thus maintaining prices at a
super-competitive level.
