A search operation was ongoing on
Tuesday for a woman and her five-month-old grandson who were
reported missing in Montecatini Val di Cecina near Pisa after
the Sferza stream broke its banks Monday due to torrential rain
in the area.
The child's parents and grandfather, who are German tourists,
were rescued from the roof of their vacation home where they had
taken shelter due to flooding in the town.
Firefighters are coordinating operations deploying divers,
search-and-rescue dogs and drones, among others
