"Our embassy's efforts to promote and make the variety and cultural heritage of Italy, a country that plays a leading role on the international cultural scene, better known in Georgia continue. Today we have brought to Tbilisi the art of two Italian geniuses, Michelangelo Buonarroti and Raffaello Sanzio, but this time in the form of a performance combining the figurative arts, music and theatre'. With these words the Italian Ambassador to Georgia Massimiliano D'Antuono addressed the numerous guests at the event organised by the Italian Embassy and held yesterday at the historic State Drama Theatre Kote Marjanishvili in Tbilisi.
The acclaimed Neapolitan theatre company 'Teatri 35', which has been working in the field of theatrical experimentation for more than 20 years, brought to the stage a performance in the form of tableaux vivants, a tribute to the genius of Michelangelo's sculpture and the divine of Raphael's painting. Thanks to the perfect balance of gestures, colours, visual perceptions and music,' reads a note from the embassy, 'the audience was able to experience a new way of conceiving art and live a unique experience, immersing themselves in the works of the two great artists of the Italian Renaissance.
The brilliant actors (Gaetano Coccia, Francesco O. De Santis, Antonella Parrella, Nicola Varallo, Andrea Loffa, Vittoria Rejna Negri and Martina Mirco) brought to life some 20 of the most famous works by the two Italian geniuses, while pieces by the greatest Baroque composers including Vivaldi, Bach, Corelli, Händel, Merula and Locatelli, interpreted by Ilham Nazarov, an exceptional Azerbaijani countertenor, Georgian theorist Giorgi Kuzanashvili and the State Chamber Orchestra 'Georgian Sinfonietta' made everything more magical and evocative.
The performance, the presentation of which in Georgia was made possible thanks to the support of TBC Bank, sponsor of the cultural activities promoted by the Embassy of Italy in Georgia in 2024, is part of the promotional event of the Campania Region in Georgia, organised by the Embassy of Italy in Georgia, which will take place during the autumn of 2024 in the Georgian capital.
The show,' the embassy note concludes, 'was a great success and ended with a very long applause and standing ovation from the audience.
