Renato Sala, father of Italian
journalist Cecilia Sala who has been held in Tehran's notorious
Evin Prison on unknown charges since December 19, told ANSA
Saturday he was grateful for the attention his daughter's case
had been paid.
The Italian government has said it is doing all it can to secure
the return of the 29-year-old Rome-born Il Foglio correspondent
and Chora Media podcaster, and her plight has spurred a surge of
online solidarity.
"I thank everyone for the attention they are giving towards my
daughter", he said, declining to comment further on the case.
Italy has called for the utmost media discretion over the case,
which may be a tit-for-tat affair after the detention in Milan
on a US warrant of an alleged Swiss-Iranian arms trafficker.
