(ANSAmed) - RABAT, JULY 6 - The protest and boycott against a
price hike for milk and dairy products has expanded to Saudi
Arabia after Morocco, affecting 'Almanrai', a leading milk
company in the Middle East.
On July 2 the price of milk and yogurt suddenly increased,
according to products, up between 5 and 9%. The price, the
company said, ''matched an increase in production costs
connected to energy, transport, cheese imports and manpower''.
Saudi consumers however did not appreciate the excuses they
deemed a ''pretext, not at all clear and without details''. The
boycott was promoted online under the hashtag #letitrot and in a
few days obtained the result of making 'Almanrai's stocks fall
by a few percentage points. (ANSAmed)
