Benjamin Netanyahu would be welcome in Italy, Deputy Premier,
Transport Minister and right-wing League party leader Matteo
Salvini said a day after the Israeli prime minister was charged
with war crimes in Gaza by the International Criminal Court,
which issued an arrest warrant against him.
"I plan to meet with members of the Israeli government soon and
if Netanyahu came to Italy he would be welcome. The war
criminals are others" said Salvini.
He said it was "disrespectful" to call "the prime minister of
one of the few democracies in the Middle East" a war criminal.
Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban on Friday invited
Netanyahu to Budapest saying he was "challenging" the ICC's
verdict on the Israeli prime minister, his ex defence minister
and the late head of Hamas.
