(ANSA) - ROME, MAR 22 - Vatican Secretary of State Cardinal
Pietro Parolin on Tuesday warned that water privatization risks
creating inequality in a message to an event at Expo 2020 Dubai.
"Water is a common good of humanity, but it is also a limited
resource, which requires proper, responsible management,"
Parolin said in a message to an event entitled 'Pursuing the
Human Right to Water', organized by CNF at the Italy Pavilion
for World Water Day.
"There is a tendency regarding the management of water to
privatize, transforming this precious resource into a product
that is subject to the laws of the market.
"This approach risks creating serious inequality in guaranteeing
access to this primary good to every human being, in particular
the most vulnerable".
The message was read by Italy's Expo 2020 Commissioner General
Paolo Glisenti. (ANSA).
