(ANSA) - ROME, OCT 1 - Italy's first Ryder Cup, in Rome, has
been a unique opportunity to showcase the attractions and
potential of the Italian capital and the whole of the country,
Tourism Minister Daniela Santanché said as the event neared its
conclusion Sunday.
""A unique and precious opportunity both for Rome, which is
hosting the most important and prestigious golfing event in the
world, that thus becomes an opportunity for the whole nation,"
she said of the event, which has been a huge success in germs of
fans and tourists.
"The tourism sector has benefitted in particular; it's enough to
think of the over 70,000 hotel rooms booked, the 250,000 tickets
sold in 89 countries, and the billion euros in ancillary revenes
expected. Numbers that bear witness to how much the combination
of sport and tourism is strategic and winning". (ANSA).
