The change stipulates that marriage is no longer exclusively between a man and a woman, but is a union between two people, regardless of gender. And joint child adoption is also granted under the same conditions as heterosexual couples.
Radio Koper's website also reported that this novelty was introduced after a Constitutional Court decision issued last July. And it also stipulates how current de facto unions can be converted into marriage if the two partners, within six months after the entry into force of the amendments to the "Family Code," declare before a registry officer that they wish to convert their de facto union into a marriage officially.
