Slovenia: FM not in favour of stopping visas to Russians

Measure would impact also critics of Putin

(ANSA) - BELGRADE, AUG 25 - Slovenian Foreign Minister Tanja Fajon opposes the proposal that the EU stop issuing tourist visas to Russian citizens, the Slovenian news agency STA reported. On Wednesday, Fajon spoke at the Alpbach Forum in Austria, noting that the measure would also harm those who oppose President Vladimir Putin's policies and want to leave the country.

"I'm not in favour of limiting tourist visas," Fajon noted. "Any visa restrictions would also prevent people who oppose Putin's policies and want to leave Russia from leaving the country. I believe that abolishing visas would be a risky move which could boomerang back on us," Fajon said. (ANSA).
