Municipality relaunches 'Badehaus', first bathhouse in Carinthia
10 December, 16:26The Badehaus is attractive above all for its style, which is typical of the bathhouses dating back to late nineteenth century. Since 1870, in fact, aristocrats and wealthy bourgeois have often spent their summer vacation on the shores of lake Millstatter See. The Badehaus restored in Millstatt can boast of being Carinthia's first ever bathhouse. Today, equipped with every comfort and a restaurant offering cuisine from all over the Alpe Adria region, with delicacies from Carinthia, Friuli Venezia Giulia and Slovenia. The bathhouse is the favourite attraction for many skiers after a day in the mountains around Millstatt, typical Carinthian village near the lake and surrounded by mountains, where you can use a single ski pass for 31 destinations and 850 kilometres of ski slopes. Thanks to its central position in Carinthia, from Lake Millstatter See you can reachin about 30 minutes the most beautiful ski resorts in Carinthia: in addition to Sportberg Goldeck (which is the closest), Bad Kleinkirchhem/St. Oswald, Turracher Hoehe, Nassfeld-Pramollo or Moelltaler Glacier. Nearby there is also a famous abbey founded by Benedictine monks in 1070 and run by the same religious Order until 1469, then transformed into a castle of the military order of St. George and finally secularized in the late eighteenth century. During the Advent period there is also the ''Christmas terrace'' overlooking the lake, the ''Kap 4613'', with a great atmosphere, among fireworks, music, cuisine, spicy aromas and Christmas markets.
