Italy had the highest rate of
taxation among the world's advanced economies in 2013, retailers
association Confcommercio said on Tuesday.
The real tax burden - calculated net of Italy's sizeable
underground economy - was 53.2%, Confcommercio said.
Including the black market in calculations resulted in a
tax burden of 44.1% last year, it added.
Last year the non-tax paying economy in Italy was 17.3% of
gross domestic product (GDP), according to the group.
