The parliament of the
Republic of San Marino on Wednesday approved a law granting
residency permits to foreign partners in same-sex couples.
The new law also grants residency permits to the retired
and no longer self-sufficient parents of foreign partners in a
couple.
The law passed with 25 in favor, six abstaining and four
against.
San Marino is a microstate located on the border between
Italy's Emilia Romagna and Marche regions.
It measures just over 61 square kilometers (24 square
miles) and has an estimated population of 32,000.
