The government of Lombardy
on Wednesday passed a law barring from regional funding those
hoteliers who house asylum seekers under a government scheme.
Voting in favour were Governor Roberto Maroni's
anti-immigrant Northern League and the centre right, while
centre-left and leftwing parties voted against.
League leader Matteo Salvini has called for hotels that get
by on migrant subsidies to be shut down.
