Italo-Norwegian base jumper
Alexander Polli died after crashing into a tree at an altitude
of 1,500m near Chamonix Monday, French media reported. Polli,
31, was a well-known figure in extreme sports and had founded
'Morals Arrivederci', a group of sports people known for the
spectacular videos they posted on the Internet. Polli is the
second Italian base jumper to die in less than a week. Last
Thursday Alto-Adige-born base jumper Uli Emanuele, who became a
Web sensation through his death-defying stunts, died in a crash
at Lauterbrunnen in Switzerland. The 29-year-old, who became an
Internet star by flying through a ring of fire and a 'needle
hole' formed by a rock, was shooting a video when he died.
